Renee, a discharge planner at MedStar Washington Hospital Center‘s Behavioral Health Unit, went above and beyond to ensure a patient had a safe discharge. After working extensively with the family, Renee (on her day off) followed the patient’s Uber to Union Station. At the station, she helped the patient find her Amtrak train and spoke with the conductor who arranged for someone to stay with the patient until she reached her destination. Through the process, Renee provided updates to the patient’s family and even included what the patient was wearing so they could easily locate her when she reached her final destination.  Renee’s compassion, concern and selfless giving of personal time is a shining example of our mission to advocate for the vulnerable when they cannot advocate for themselves.  Renee, THANK YOU for being awesome!
